Day 7.

28th July and I’m sat in two tournaments. I have both screens up and the first to start is the €1 flip to the €110 Sunday major. By some miracle I win my first table of 9 players with JJ and then it’s down to about 23 players who’ve all won their tables. Sadly I do not make it past that round and after checking, there’s still 6 players left after the two previous rounds. I knew it was going to be extremely lucky to win a seat, but it’s worth doing in the future when I have more funds. Talking of funds, the €3k Free-Roll starts and with around 470 runners and I’ve got my obligatory 1000 chips I now try to play the very best poker I’ve ever had. Playing super tight, my aim is to make the cash. I check the payouts and chuckle when I see the top 259 players will cash, but it’s just a 11c tournament ticket....... However, I grind my chips up, admittedly with AA three times in about 15 hands but most players have the 3500 starting stacks and know I’m playing tight, so I get respect even t...

Day 6

So this is the second update and I some how manage to play over 100 raked hands with a lot from day 5. This gets me into the €3,000 free roll again on Sunday the 28th, but it also gets me into a Saturday freeroll with €1,000. Unfortunately though, I didn’t rake 100 hands in the last 24 hrs which means I start with the minimum chips of 1000, those who raked over the 100 hands start with 3500 and I’m always going to struggle. It proves a lot harder than I thought with no hands to play either and I go out before the cash. I must say though, any sit outs in these tournaments get kicked after level 1 and so you are left with mostly players who want to play. I then play some more cash games to try and get to 400 raked hands so I can start with the 3500 chips, I fail and I also lose again, but not just cash, a sit n go and a 55c tournament to. It’s a disaster, I’m down to less than $2 about $1,74 to be precise and I stop playing for the day / night. Below is the screenshot of my demise. ...

The new Day 5

I’ve been a bit lazy of late, mainly due to being away over the last weekend and not playing every day either. But hopefully once I get this up to date I will try to update every time I play. So day 5 was in fact a total disaster. I lost 3 buys during the day despite being miles ahead on all 3 times. I had 9 10 out of the BB and the flop was 6 7 8 rainbow. I checked to the raiser and he bet full pot of about 16c. I was miles in front of his range of AA KK QQ JJ, or any sets and even AK so I did not want to check raise in case he folded. The turn was a Q and he goes all in for about €1.60 for a massive overbet shove. I have the nuts still and I call all day long here. He flips QQ for top set and all I need is to avoid a paired board. Of course the 8 river comes and it’s buy in number 1 down. The second was a shove again on the turn with two hearts v my top two pair and I was pretty sure he was chasing the flush and this guy or gal shoves and I call and then the flush gets there of co...

A new way of counting days.

I’ve given this some thought and I’ve decided to go with days that I’ve been active. In my last challenge I counted weeks despite not playing due to whatever reason and it took 4 1/2 years to complete. This will now be counted in days I’ve been active. So when I said, first week completed, it was t actually true because I did not play everyday. I think I only played 5 days and then I had to travel up north on family issues which will carry on every 3 to 4 or even 5 weeks. This way I get to see exactly how many days it takes me. My next post (straight after this post) will be Day 5 and NOT my second week or third week.

First week complete.

I played a little yesterday, but I just couldn’t get going. When I raised it was 3 bet and considering my opening range is quite high, it’s either 4 bet bluff or fold but we all know Micro players can’t fold. I was fine with it and I can’t complain really, it’s just my first non win day and overall it’s just one of those things. I’ve also been tired more than normal and tomorrow (Saturday) it’s my usual trip up north for the weekend, that’s going to hinder my game time, but I’ll still be playing that free roll on Sunday via the M1, just don’t tell the police..... So I’m back down to $7.32. I also did not play any cash today either, instead I opted for the 1c Rebuy in which I bought in for .25 points. I wasn’t quite sure of the prize, but it was Top 2 only that won something. It was until all the Rebuys and Add ons had been collected. 71 players entered so it was basically a crap shoot, but I played my best like I always do and yeap, I did good and won it! First MTT entered and I won ...

Day 5

If it was really that easy. I say that with a touch of arrogance, but it’s true. These lowest levels do provide some real easy money and it’s no surprise that one of the coaches I follow, makes a living out of playing the 1/2c & 2/4c games.Yes he multi tables with up to 24 tables, but I can most definitely see why he does it. I had only just sat down tonight and this one guy was literally shoving every turn or river. It was always gong to happen that he would stack me and he did. The hand of course was my AA v J2 off. He shoved after the turn to show just a pair of 2’s, I avoided the 7 outer and thanked him most kindly. Well in my mind, you do not want to scare off the fish so I said nothing. Unfortunately though, it looks like I can not change my game settings whilst on the iPad and so I had to buy in with the table max which was €2. The plan was $1, but with the site being played in € and my account in $$, I just have to go with it. I was fully prepared to quite when I reached ...

Day 4

I had to follow the rules today and leave the table after I increased my Buy In by 1.5x. I even stopped the hand before the blinds reached me just for safety. I didn’t play that much either, I basically built my Buy In over the course of about 50 hands with my $1 that I sat down with. I did have another guy check calling my turned full house with just top pair, but because I balanced my range, he’s practically guessing if I had it or not. Don’t be afraid to show your bluffs at showdown, it makes your opponents second guess which is exactly what you want. Unfortunately though, neither my Holdem Manager 2&3 and my PT4 will not store my hands. This means I have no way of knowing just how many hands I’ve played or any stats that I could use. The only thing I can do is take screenshots of my daily play like the one below. It shows my profit at the cash table but not much else during my 24 hours of previous play. Anyway, below is the proof, I know I don’t have to prove anything, but ...

Stop the front page

So........ I was going to play the second challenge on Grosvenor, but after checking the free rolls out it turned out that they only paid tickets so it wasn’t much good to me. However, I had 56c on Betsafe on the Microgamming network and I some how managed to grow that passed the $1 mark. Unfortunately I could not get it bang on the $1. So officially it’s $1.02. There is also another weird set up, the site is in € and not $. Anyway, I have now started and today was my second day. I played for at least a couple of hours on the 1/2c tables both yesterday and today. I managed to grind my $1 into $2.06 yesterday and today I was lucky enough to double my full stack when I turned a full house and was being bet into with two other players. One decided to call my raised shove with me holding the straight to his top pair. I didn’t manage to get my stack to the $5 so I didn’t have to leave like the rules state. However, there’s no real rule in place with my small bankroll. I’m playing the l...

It’s now official, Challenge 2

So after checking out various sites, I’ve chosen Grosvenor poker to be my home for this second challenge. This is my account and you can see it’s on a zero balance, therefore I’ve decided to start with a zero Bankroll. There’s enough free rolls to win a few cents to play little 11c freeze out tournaments and sit n go’s. Below are the rules, exactly the same as the first challenge. I can not deposit unless forced to move to a different site, were I am able to withdraw the funds and transfer onto another site. I can not play any cash game with less than 20 times the Max Buy in. ( 5% ) I must drop down to a lower level if I ever have less than the 20 times the Max Buy in. ( 5% ) I can not play any tournament with above 2% of my Bankroll. I can not play any Sit n Go with above 2% of my Bankroll. I must leave the cash table I am playing if I gain more than 1.5 of a buy in. All freeroll and rakeback deals will be counted towards the total amount of my Bankroll. I can not withdraw for ...

My second $10k poker challenge

I have given this some thought and I have absolutely nothing to lose by doing this and a lot to gain. Having already completed my first $0~$10,000 poker challenge and with it now 10 years since I completed it, what a great idea to try and repeat it. I’ve now got 10 more years experience and I think I can beat the 4 1/2 years it took last time. But it is not a race, it would be great to finish a second challenge and I doubt anyone is daft enough to do it again.....l The rules are the same, the only thing different is my starting stake. There’s not really that many free rolls about that are not value. I see no point trying to make a few cents by playing countless free rolls with thousands of players involved. Although I may change that if I find a site that offers a decent chance of winning something. If I do not, I will start at $1. This is not official as of yet, I am still deciding which site is best to my needs and so I am still in the finding stage. Once I have finally chosen th...
